Alexis Gil, Licensed Massage Therapist
Michael Valenti, LMT and Certified Rolfer
I have been a movement educator for more than 15 years teaching gymnastics at various gyms across the country. Studying numerous sports throughout life, I desired a more balanced and individual approach to body development and awareness. In 1996 I formed the first boys gymnastics team at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois. I graduated from the University of Montana in 2001 with a degree in Anthropological Linguistics, and a minor study of Native American Cultures.
After years of athletics (two marathons, acrobatics, dancing, lacrosse, fencing and music) I began to feel body pain. In my search for sustainable-empowering health, 8 years ago I received the Rolfing Ten Series and have been studying and advocating Rolfing Structural Integration ever since. I graduated from The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, Boulder, CO. in 2008. When the body is out of structural balance, movement is harder and often causes excessive wear and body pain. Through Rolfing bodywork it felt as though physics and gravity forces were now on my side, supporting me and my movements making activities and everyday life easier and pain free. With the holistic approach of Rolfing each individual goes through their own unique process and transformation. My ideas about health, healing and personal growth were transformed as my body slowly changed and proactively continues to.
I have continued my study of bodywork through diverse approaches, such as, primitive reflexive movements (embryological and early development), spacial awareness body-mapping with SourcePoint Therapy®, and Vinyasa flow Yoga teacher training.
I am licensed to practice Rolfing in Oregon by the Oregon Board of Massage TherapistsOR LMT #18427
